Palais de la découverte

Iconic science museum in Paris, France

Inspiring curiosity through science

For almost a century, the Palais de la découverte has brought science to life for generations of visitors. Founded in Paris in 1937, the museum was created to bring scientific research closer to the public and highlight the role science plays in human progress.

Now fully renovated and set to reopen in 2027, the Palais will offer a renewed way to experience science, while preserving what has always made it unique: live demonstrations, hands-on experimentation and a lively dialogue between science and the public.

Across seven major scientific disciplines, including chemistry, visitors will explore science through dedicated presentation rooms, laboratories and curiosity hubs — spaces designed to encourage wonder, curiosity and learning by doing.

Bringing chemistry to life

The Syensqo Fund supports Universcience by becoming a founding partner of the Chemistry Room at the Palais de la découverte. This reflects our commitment to making science more accessible, fostering curiosity and inspiring future generations to engage with science.

Chemistry comes to life across different spaces and formats. Through exchanges with scientific mediators, curiosity hubs exploring scientific knowledge and current research, and hands-on experiments in dedicated laboratories, visitors are invited to discover chemistry by questioning, exploring and doing.

Science you can experience

This direct, hands-on approach to science is at the heart of the Palais’ educational mission. By encouraging visitors to observe, question and experiment, it helps foster curiosity and a deeper understanding of science.

For younger generations in particular, these experiences can make science more approachable and open new perspectives on scientific and technical fields. Through its support, the Syensqo Fund contributes to promoting scientific literacy and inspiring future generations of scientists.

Why we support

The Palais de la découverte brings together education, broad public engagement and meaningful social impact. Its approach helps make scientific knowledge accessible to diverse audiences, while encouraging younger generations to engage with science and discover new possibilities for their future.
