Explore, research, educate
IMAQA is a collaborative project that brings together explorers, scientists and communication specialists.
Functioning as a specialized provider of scientific field services in extreme environments, IMAQA also serves as a pioneering platform for scientific communication and facilitates educational outreach and public awareness on pressing issues.
Advancing scientific research
One of the greatest challenges in science today is accessing remote and hostile regions.
As explorers, IMAQA’s mission is to push the frontiers of scientific research by collecting crucial field data for researchers and training scientists for extreme conditions.
IMAQA’s focus is on advancing research and public awareness in the polar regions, treating every expedition as a collective adventure.
Inspiring STEM education
IMAQA is committed to sharing the findings from their expeditions and raising awareness, especially among younger generations, about environmental and scientific challenges.
Sharing this knowledge is essential to shaping the world of tomorrow. By engaging young minds through hands-on workshops developed alongside scientists and with real-world applications, IMAQA helps young people establish curiosity and critical thinking skills, while inspiring them to consider future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
We're thrilled to have the support of the Syensqo Fund, which shares our commitment to protecting the planet, driving innovation, and promoting STEM education through adventure. Their support is key to making our upcoming projects a reality, and we’re glad to build strong connections around these shared values.
By supporting IMAQA, the Syensqo Fund helps advance critical scientific research, support environmental conservation efforts and promote STEM education.
Inspiring future generations and raising public awareness about pressing global issues enables IMAQA to have a significant impact on society and the protection of our planet.
The genesis
IMAQA is inspired by the success of the Nanok Expedition in Greenland, which took place in 2022 and was led by adventurers and explorers Gilles Denis and Nathan Goffart.
The two explorers completed a six-month triathlon challenge, carried out at the service of science. They established an international consortium of researchers and succeeded in contributing to more than five experiments, all aimed at gaining a better understanding of climate change.
The expedition demonstrated the benefits of combining adventure with science to contribute to environmental research and public education.
